Sigboy Sneaky Sack

Okay, Okay, I know it's more of a bag than a sack, but it sounds better.

We all know that chest rigs are cool, but when can you wear them? No matter what happens you run the risk of looking like a mall ninja, and nobody wants that.
What can you do to keep the Grey man image, but still carry enough gear?

Just put it alll in a sneaky bag.
It consists of two zippered pockets and the external mag pouches.

External mag pouches-

Currently I'm only using this as a car bag, with the pistol and everything in it except the rifle mags. It goes in and out of the house everyday, and it has not gathered any undo attention. It also is very handy to carry into hotel check in at the end of a long day driving. I've never had anybody look twice at it.

It occurs to me that some newer readers may not be up on the entire "Taxonomy of Modern Dangers" thing, so as a recap, here are several good reasons to carry a gun:

Zombies (of course)
Pirates
Ninjas
Vampires
Werewolves
Bears
Face-eating monkeys
Killer space robots
Hippies (generally peaceful, but can become erratic and dangerous during mating season)

Various hybrids of the above, such as zombie bears or ninja vampires
Remember: If you are prepared for the dead to walk the earth in search of human brains, then a hurricane or attempted mugging is no big deal.

Isn't this well spoken truth awesome? The only thing I can think to add is clowns.

Whats in your pocket?

So my question to you is this: Whats your every day carry(EDC)?
Mine varies upon the perceived situation.

This is my lowest level, it contains one knife, phone, wallet and keys. I use my J frame as my pocket pistol, with ten rounds of ammunition.
Generally I carry the pistol in my weak side front pocket. Draw to first shot at three yards is about 1.75seconds. The reload is incredibly slow, but that is not this guns purpose. I consider this gun to be used for the immediate defense of mine or my families personal well being. It is not for stopping a gun fight that looks like something out of a Hollywood movie.


We have reached the point where people start to think I am strange. This is the point I max out on my concealed carry gear. Notice that most everything is doubled up. Two phones and two knives. Two magazines for the primary pistol, two reloads for the S & W.

The primary pistol is a Sig P226R in 40 S & W. It is gassed up with Winchester 165gr hollow points. I have found that they shoot excellent in this pistol and the recoil and muzzle blast is very reasonable. I used to carry a certain 'golden bullet', they to were awesome, however they would blind you at night. The snubbie is stoked with 125gr +P ammo. The recoil is stout, however, I can count on the bullet to expand at slow velocities.

Also note that I carry a Multi-tool knife. You are more likely to need a pair of pliers before you need a pistol. I also carry a flashlight. Honestly, it's the last thing to be put on, but it is also the most used, when I have it.

So what are your thoughts, too much? Too little? Am I a paranoid gunnut that doesn't know any better? By the way, if you think this is alot you should see my car bag!

Who needs a shorty shotty?

I have always laughed at people who said that they want a short barreled shotgun. I have asked what can you do with 10" that you can't do with 18?

Funny how now I'm starting to appreciate it. What do you think? New car gun? Maybe I can wear it under my coat when I take the kids trick or treating. In all honestly this is more for the cool factor than anything else. I'd be one of the cool kids. Maybe after that I can get a 10" AR and use that as a car gun.

And you thought Cabela's was cool!

After are recent foray into the fields of South Dakota we stopped at Cabela's to support our inner mall ninja. Did you know that Cabela's does not allow open carry? In a open carry legal state? It's okay. I have a big orange shirt on! Take that Cabela's.

I received all kinds of funny looks, but, that is what I was going for. The pistol is a 5 1/2 inch Ruger Vaquero in a Cross draw leather cowboy holster. It's horrible as a CCW gun but it makes an awesome field gun. Shoots to point of aim and is heavy enough to drive nails with.

Halloween Firepower

So I was asked this last Halloween how much firepower I was taking trick or treating. I replied, "a blaster and a light saber." Apparently I was not believed so here is the proof.

As an aside the kids were well protected and the lightsaber did not have to come out to fight evil. I also found that this kept sigboy jr from taking his lightsaber and chasing all of the other children that were frolicking about. I had to constantly remind him to only use the force for good and to only take out his lightsaber when evil was present.

However, I was secretly hoping to find someone dressed from the 'darkside' (I wanted to use the lightsaber, not the 226 blaster).

Hi Ho, Hi Ho

it's off to my cousins reception I go. It is comforting to be surrounded by mountains again. The only bright side to West Texas is that at least there are inverted mountains.

Onto guns. I was in a hotel room in NM Thursday night when I observed a gentleman in the lobby wearing a fannypack that I had just read a review of in HANDGUNS! magazine. I was really wondering if it was comfortable and was seriously considering asking him if it was comfortable. However isnt that like saying. " I know you have a gun, how's it feel to carry it in a man purse?" Could have been kinda rude

Packing

So the family and I are getting ready to drive from West Texas to Utah this weekend for my cousins wedding reception. Mrs. Sigboy says to me "What are you going to pack?" With out skipping a beat I reply " A rifle, shotgun, two pistols and an assualt rifle." After all it's only a wedding, there's no need to go heavy.
I should have been smarter than that, she was wondering what kind of clothes I was packing. After our discussion a commitee was formed and it was decided, with little imput from me, that I should be fine with one pistol and one high power rifle. I seriously hope that we do not get over-run by zombies. It could be ugly.
